Bongiwe SELANE started her career in the Film and TV industry14 years ago. She joined M-Net in 2000 as Commissioning Editor, heading up such well known developmental initiatives as New Directions, a film development initiative launched to advance and develop the African film industry. She has executive produced over 20 short films both in South Africa and across the continent of Africa.

Bongiwe has also worked on feature length films, having acted as Supervising Producer for MNET on their Movie of the Month project that M-Net commissioned in 2003/4. Films produced include award winning films such as Gums and Noses, The Flyer, Murmur, Swan Song for Charlie, Dollars and White Pipes and Yesterday. During 2005/2006, she commissioned for M-Net, a 26 part drama series in Nigeria called Doctor's Quarters which was followed by Edge of Paradise - both of which were ground-breaking in that they were the first drama series commissioned outside of South Africa by M-Net, and the first for Nigerian audiences. In 2007/2008 these were followed by a 13 part drama series called Changes - commissioned in Kenya for Kenyan audiences.

Bongiwe was also instrumental in the commissioning of Jacob's Cross, M-Net's first drama series developed for the emerging market. The series was launched in January 2007 and she worked on three seasons of the series as supervising producer.
